What to save before you move on
Do not save only a product name and thumbnail. Save the direct page, a neutral description, the visible item code, the exact option, any stated quantity or price basis, the page's role, unresolved fields, and the date reviewed. This creates a record you can compare later without pretending the page proves more than it does.
A catalog can support discovery and visual comparison. It does not by itself confirm stock, seller identity, authenticity, total cost, shipping, or buyer protection.
Build one evidence record
Keep facts tied to their source. If a detail comes from a message or marketplace listing, label it separately instead of adding it to the catalog field.
| Field | Record | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Page | Direct URL and review date | Lets you reopen the same evidence |
| Identity | Neutral product type and visible code | Reduces photo-only matching |
| Option | Color, size, model, set, or version | Keeps unlike variants apart |
| Commercial terms | Currency, quantity basis, minimum, inclusions | Prevents incomplete price comparisons |
| Page role | Album, directory, marketplace, or quote | Clarifies what the source can establish |
| Unknowns | Every field still unanswered | Creates the next-question list |
Keep different source roles separate
Presentation evidence
Album and catalog pages can show appearance, labels, codes, option names, and uploaded captions.
Transaction evidence
A current marketplace page or direct quote may address price, quantity, stock, payment, and policy context.
Matching photos do not prove that two pages share a seller, batch, stock position, or price. Link the records, but preserve where each detail came from.
Compare a complete cost basis
A visible number may be a unit price, a starting price, a deposit, a sample price, a quantity tier, or an outdated caption. Before comparing it, record the currency, selected option, quantity, included pieces, date, and whether domestic delivery, service fees, packing, or international shipping are excluded.
If one of those fields is missing, label the number not yet comparable. A low number with an unknown basis is not a useful saving.
Let the missing field choose the next question
- If identity is unclear, ask for the current code and exact page.
- If the option is unclear, name the color, size, model, or set shown.
- If the number is unclear, ask for currency, quantity basis, and inclusions.
- If the source role is unclear, ask which page handles the order and policies.
- If shipping is unclear, finish the packed-order record before requesting a route quote.
When to pause the record
Pause when the item code changes between pages, a reply avoids the exact option, a price has no currency or quantity basis, the contact route conflicts with the page, or someone pressures you to pay before basic details are settled. Save the conflict in your notes rather than choosing the most convenient version.
