Find out what the minimum actually applies to
Ask what the minimum applies to, whether different options can be mixed, how the price changes at the requested quantity, and which fees or packing rules are triggered. Record sample, small-order, and bulk terms as separate scenarios rather than treating one quantity as a universal rule.
Identify the kind of minimum

Keep sample, small-order and bulk scenarios separate
A sample may have a higher unit price and separate shipping. A small order may allow option mixing with a surcharge. A bulk tier may require fixed cartons, deposits, lead time, or different packing. Request each scenario on the same date and with the same item specification.

Build the first-order total, not only a unit price
Include the selected quantity, option surcharges, sample fee, setup or customization fee, mandatory packing, domestic delivery, service costs, and any excluded international shipping. Keep refundable deposits and non-refundable fees separate.
A lower unit price can produce a higher first-order exposure if the minimum, surplus options, packing, or setup costs are larger.

When the minimum deserves another look
Pause when minimums change during the conversation, mixed options are verbally allowed but absent from the quote, carton quantities do not match the requested matrix, fees appear after confirmation, or the required quantity exceeds what you can reasonably inspect, store, ship, or use.
A minimum is a commercial term, not proof of supplier capability or product quality.
